EXKLUSION IM LINZRAUM – Exklusionsmechanismen wohnungsloser Menschen im öffentlichen Raum

Abstract

The thesis deals with the issue of exclusion of homeless people in public space. The focus is on the inner-city area of Linz, the state capital of Upper Austria. In this context, the exclusion mechanisms of three parks and squares (Schillerpark, Hessenplatz, OK-Platz), which were rebuilt and renovated within the last ten years, are examined. The information was collected by means of a classical basic analysis within the framework of a literature search and by coupling two qualitative survey instruments. On the one hand, interviews with experts provided information on the current discourse in Linz, while on the other hand field research on site examined the situation. Using this method, six thematic fields could be linked to exclusion mechanisms. The results of this work reflect the current situation and are intended to serve as a valid basis for future urban development.
