Elina Kränzle, University Assistant
MSc Urban Studies
BSc Urban and Spatial Planning
Elina Kränzle holds a degree in Urban and Spatial Planning from Bauhaus Universität Weimar and has completed an interdisciplinary Erasmus Mundus Master in Urban Studies with study periods in Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen and Madrid. Embedded in interdisciplinary urban studies Elina Kränzle investigates processes of urban development in a context of social and political change. As a PhD candidate she investigates essentialist notions of public space and urban culture with a particular focus on nationalist ‘appropriations’ that challenge the cosmopolitan ideal. To explore these topics she combines various disciplines’ approaches, from social and political science methods to visual and mapping tools from spatial planning and geography.
Since 2015 she supports the Interdisciplinary Centre for Urban Culture and Public Space as University Assistant.
